Project support meets practical experience
Planning for an intern?
Follow these steps:
Inquire about an internship. Sourcewell staff will review and ensure funds are available.
Recruit and hire the intern using your organization’s hiring process. Once an intern has been identified, send their name and email address, plus the name and email address of the person authorized to sign for your entity to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Complete the Sourcewell Internship Agreement via DocuSign before the intern begins work. You, the intern, and Sourcewell staff must sign the document via electronic signature. Once complete, the internship can start.
Submit your completed Internship Reimbursement Request form and the intern’s paystubs to Sourcewell either monthly or at the end of the internship (depending on agreed terms from step 3).
Get reimbursed for up to $12/hour for 640 hours over the entire placement (up to 32 weeks).
Complete our quick program evaluation online after the internship is done.
Read the fine print — Eligibility Requirements (PDF).
Your entity must be located in Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd, or Wadena county in central Minnesota, and must have a minimum of one full-time paid staff person or an equivalent. For example, a .5 FTE city administrator and a .5 FTE public works.
Nonprofits must be a 501(c)(3) serving in Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd, or Wadena county in central Minnesota, and must have a minimum of one full-time paid staff person or an equivalent. For example, a .75 FTE director and a .25 FTE office manager.
Interns must have a high school diploma or GED diploma or certificate, and be enrolled in a post-secondary institution (minimum of part-time) for the duration of the internship.
Reimbursement is available on a first-come, first-served basis as Sourcewell funding permits. Local government entities may have one intern per career discipline per semester. For example, a county can have multiple interns but only one intern within each career discipline (social services, corrections, etc.). Nonprofits may have one intern per entity per semester. Each intern is limited to one agreement.
The facilitating entity or organization is responsible for recruiting, interviewing, hiring, supervising, and evaluating the intern. Sourcewell provides financial support of $12/hour up to 640 hours for the duration of the internship.
